Tim Rylands
During my
primary placement I spent two days at Kingfisher Primary School at a Tim
Ryland’s Workshop. I am taking part in
another Tim Ryland’s Experience on 11th and 12th July 2012.
I value my time spent in Primary Education
and feed a lot of what I learn straight back into KS3 teaching. During my
second placement I have taken the
opportunity to spend Wednesday afternoons teaching Year 6 at Finningley Primary School. I am particularly interested in this school
as they teach a curriculum similar to that of Heathcote’s Mantle of the Expert.
Here I have seen students make hedgehog houses, develop scientific experiments and explore the topic of bridges. I have found teaching KS2 beneficial when differentiating for a mixed ability Year 7 Graphics Class. I have planned and taught this class using strategies to promote autonomy and confidence.
